Many of the problems we try to solve with our minds don’t start in the mind at all. They start at the level of energy.
Watching people over the years, I see the same pattern again and again. Someone is stuck: in money, in relationships, in endless exhaustion. So they do what we have all been taught to do. They think harder. They make a new plan, read another book, set another goal. They analyse the problem from every angle.
And still, nothing really shifts. The same walls keep appearing, sometimes in a new disguise. That is usually a sign the root of the problem sits somewhere the thinking mind can’t reach.
Where stuck energy comes from
We are not only bodies and thoughts. We are energy, and energy can get stuck. It can also pick up things that don’t belong to it. In my experience, the blocks that hold people back usually come from one of a few places:
- Stuck energy. An old shock, grief or fear that was never fully felt and released. It stays lodged in the body and energy field long after the event is over.
- Attachments. Outside energies or entities that latch on. Some are negative, some are simply unhelpful, and some are neutral. Either way, they are not you, and they can keep you from rising toward your higher self.
- Past lives. Patterns, vows and wounds carried forward from lives before this one.
- Lineage. Energy passed down through your family line, like an inheritance no one meant to leave you.
- Place. The collective energy of the land and culture you grew up in.
Here is how a few of these can show up in everyday life.
The hustle you inherited
Think of someone who can never stop. They grind, hustle and push from morning to night. Even when they have “made it,” rest feels unsafe, almost wrong.
We usually call this a personality trait or a work ethic. But very often, when you look at the energy, the pattern isn’t theirs. A grandparent or great-grandparent may have had to work themselves to the bone just to survive. That survival energy, never stop or you won’t make it, gets passed down the line. The person today is carrying a burden that belonged to someone else, in circumstances that no longer exist.
When money keeps slipping away
Now think of someone who works hard and is capable, yet money never seems to stay. It slips through their fingers, or opportunities fall apart at the last moment.
They may try budgeting, courses and positive thinking about wealth, but the pattern returns. Sometimes the root is a past life. In a life before this one, this soul may have come to hate money. Perhaps money was tied to greed, betrayal or suffering, or the soul took a vow to renounce it. That old feeling is still active. Without knowing it, the person is quietly pushing money away, because some part of them still believes money is dangerous or wrong.
The energy of a place
Energy isn’t only personal or ancestral. Whole places carry it too. A country or region that has lived through hardship, scarcity or upheaval builds up a collective energy, and everyone who grows up there absorbs some of it.
I see this clearly in people who have moved to a new country, often to Canada, Europe or the United States, in search of a better life. Many arrive from places where constant striving was the only way to get by. Life in the new country may be far more stable, yet they can’t switch off. The old survival rhythm comes with them, running in the background long after the reason for it is gone.
This is no flaw in the person, and it is never a judgement on any culture. It is simply energy that was absorbed and never released. Once it is cleared, people often find they can enjoy the life they worked so hard to build.
Why the mind can’t clear what it can’t see
The mind is a wonderful tool, but it only works with what it can see. It knows this life, this story, these memories. It has no map for a pattern that began three generations ago, a vow made in another lifetime, or an energy that attached itself from outside.
So the mind does what it knows. It analyses, plans and tries harder. But you cannot think your way out of something that was never a thought in the first place. It is like trying to fix a flickering light by rearranging the furniture.
The resolution lies in clearing the energy itself. That work is done by people trained to perceive and work with energy, such as energy healers, Reiki practitioners and medical intuitives. Through practices like Reiki, past-life regression and energy clearing, the stuck energy can be found, understood and released. When it lifts, people often describe feeling lighter, as if they finally have room to become who they really are.
Energy work is a complement to good medical and mental health care, not a replacement for it. If you are dealing with a health concern, please keep working with your doctor or therapist as well.
Signs you may be carrying energy that isn’t yours
- You keep hitting the same wall, no matter how much you change on the outside.
- You feel driven by a restlessness or urgency you can’t explain.
- You notice the same struggle in your parents or grandparents.
- You feel unusually drained, heavy or “not quite yourself” for no clear reason.
- Your intentions are clear, yet something seems to pull you the other way.
- You sense you are meant for more, but can’t reach that higher version of yourself.
Making room for your higher self
You are not broken, and you are not failing. You may simply be carrying more than your share, including energy from your ancestors, from past lives, from the places you come from, or from things that attached along the way.
The good news is that energy can move. What was absorbed can be released. What was attached can be cleared. When that happens, the mind no longer has to fight so hard, and your higher self finally has space to come through.
